Before I can get talking about racing I have to let my heart speak. Speed TV Commentator Chris Myers lost his 19 year old son this weekend in a car crash in California. Chris is a friend and such a dedicated family man that this just breaks my heart so much I can't even say. So you won't see Chris at this week's Daytona TV coverage as Speed has given him all the time he needs to heal. This kind of puts the race in a little more perspective knowing our lives can be changed in the blink of an eye. It also happened the day before we all lost the late great Dale Sr.11 years ago. My heart goes out to the entire Myers family.
Kyle wins the Bud Shootout after escaping a few tight spots and almost getting taken out by Jeff Gordon in his end of the race tumble. The race was great to watch and speeds were pretty fast and didn't take long for Ambros on lap 9 to take Ragan, Menard and Michael Waltrip out of the race. Heck it collected up in that was also Khane, Hamlin, Burton, Kenseth and Montoya. Later Ambros kept on pushing until on lap 56 he took out Logano, Harvick, Kenseth and Dale Jr. But it was Jeff Gordon that caused the Big One he himself was in. the #24 was pushing the #18 when he got lose and shot up the track into Kurt Busch in the #51 and then into McMurray, 5 Time, Cousin Carl and the Dinger before barrel rolling and flipping on his side. Thank the Lord the cars are tough and he walked away. Rowdy went on the sneak by at the last few feet to beat Stewart to the finish line. Wow what a great race for sure and looks like the Daytona 500 will be a great race to watch for sure.
Looks like Cheating Chad go caught with his hand in the NASCAR Cooking Jar yet again. Seems NASCAR has confiscated the C-Posts on the #48 because they did not fit the approved template. There will be big fines but not any suspensions because this was caught before the car had Qualified or Raced. NASCAR is all over the #48 since they keep finding them looking for ways to cheat the rules for more speed.
On an opposite note and showing some Class we learned that Dr. Jerry Punch who as you remember was on the bad side of the Kurt Busch ti-raid and F-Bombs has no hard feelings and has forgiven Busch. Way to go Dr Punch! I think KuBu has learned his lesson and this will all be forgotten soon.
Well, that's how I see it this week folks and I'm sticking with it.
peace
